On September 11, the Synergy Workshop with a focus on the Publication Strategy for the SURE Funding Initiative’s projects was hosted by the Facilitation and Synthesis Research (F&SR) team.
The online workshop aimed to explore how SURE projects can jointly discuss their findings and to identify suitable formats and outlets for future publications. Participants discussed a peer-reviewed Special Issue as the preferred option, as it would allow more SURE projects to contribute.
Together, we mapped four possible thematic directions for a joint publication: Urban Transformation, reflecting on ten years since Habitat III; Ecosystem Services and Nature-Based Solutions, focusing on the challenges of moving from concept to implementation; Actionable Knowledge, asking how knowledge for urban transformation becomes usable; and Participation, Co-learning and Co-creation, comparing methods, objectives, stakeholder involvement, and experiences across projects.
The workshop concluded with ideas for cross-project collaboration and an agreement to pursue two tracks in parallel: individual project publications and a breader joint SURE publication, with the F&SR team supporting the coordination of the process.
