The SURE Facilitation and Synthesis Research (SURE FSR) team hosted a special track ‘Affecting the River of Knowledge in Sustainability: Knowledge Management Strategies and Tools in Cross-Cultural Settings’ in the 18th iteration of the International Forum on Knowledge Asset Dynamics (IFKAD) conference held at Matera, Italy.
The special track comprised two panel segments with each consisting of three paper presentations. In the first segment Dr Jesús López-Baeza, Arjama Mukherjee, and Prof. Dr Jörg Noennig presented topics related to public space development, digital tools for urban development and Dresden smart city case study. This segment provided valuable insights into knowledge management strategies and tools in cross-cultural settings.
The second panel segment was dedicated to the SURE F&SR project in which a detailed overview was introduced by Dr Katharina Borgmann to the audience about the project's scope, objectives, and key components, giving the audience a comprehensive understanding of the project's structure. Following the research architecture, Prof. Dr Jörg Noennig offered a more detailed perspective on synthesizer development showcasing a "zoomed-in" perspective on the complexities and challenges involved in designing an effective tool for knowledge management in cross-cultural settings. The final presentation of the second part presented by Chintan Patel delved into the utilization of natural language processing (NLP) as a preliminary research approach to validate some of SURE F&SR’s research efforts.
The audience showed great interest throughout the paper presentations and engaged in discussions after each panel and individual paper presentation. Scholars from various disciplines engaged in discussions on various topics revolving around challenges, strategies, and approaches associated with knowledge management and reference in cross-cultural settings. Furthermore, challenges involving sustainable urban development and the possibility of integrating various Artificial Intelligence (AI) related tools were also highlighted in discussions. Beyond the presentations, the conference provided ample opportunities for networking and interdisciplinary exchanges. These interactions fostered a collaborative environment where we could learn from others' experiences and contribute to the advancement of knowledge management practices in urban research and beyond.
